چکیده
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between parental acceptance-rejection and antisocial behaviors in adolescents, with a focus on the mediating role of self-worth. The research method of the present study was descriptive-correlational, utilizing path analysis. The statistical population comprised all second-stage high school students in Shiraz. A total of 321 students were selected using multi-stage cluster random sampling. Data were collected using the Rohner and Khaleque Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (2005), the Crocker et al. Self-Worth Questionnaire (2003), and the Burt and Donnellan Antisocial Behavior Questionnaire (2009). The findings indicated that the final model demonstrated a good fit with the data. Regarding direct effects, the results showed significant paths for parental rejection predicting antisocial behaviors, parental acceptance predicting antisocial behaviors, parental rejection predicting self-worth, parental acceptance predicting self-worth, and self-worth predicting antisocial behaviors. Furthermore, the findings revealed that self-worth plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between parental acceptance-rejection and antisocial behaviors in adolescents. The proposed model was evaluated using path analysis. Consequently, enhancing parental warmth and reducing rejection can foster higher self-worth in adolescents, thereby serving as a protective factor against antisocial conduct.
