| Objective: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of the educational program (Ersta vändpunkten) and Unified protocol for transdiagnostic treatment on emotional expression and self-control among female adolescents with substance-abusing parents. Methods: This experimental study employed a pretest–posttest design with three groups (two experimental, one control). The statistical population included 73 female adolescents with substance-abusing parents referred to Daroalekram Charity Institution in Mashhad, during 2023. After initial screening, 45 participants who met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to three groups (n = 15 per group). The first group received Ersta vändpunkten in 14 weekly 90-minute sessions; the second received Unified protocol for transdiagnostic treatment in 16 weekly sessions; the control group received no intervention. Data were collected using the Emotional Expressiveness Questionnaire (King & Emmons, 1990) and the Self-Control Scale (Tangney et al., 2004), and analyzed using Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA) in SPSS-21. Results: Both interventions significantly improved emotional expression and self-control compared to the control group (p < 0.001). No significant difference was observed between the two experimental groups (p> 0.05). Conclusion: Both the educational program and Unified protocol for transdiagnostic treatment proved effective in enhancing emotional expression and self-control among female adolescents living with substance-abusing parents. | ||
