چکیده
Living with heart diseases is a significant challenge during lifetime, yet many patients have successfully managed that by enhancing positive psychological components such as lifestyle and treatment adherence. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and compassion-focused therapy (CFT) on lifestyle and treatment adherence among cardiac patients. This applied study was conducted through a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, and control group among cardiac patients in hospitals in Shiraz in 2023. The participants consisted of 45 cardiac patients who were selected through convenience sampling and assigned to three groups of 15 individuals each. The data was collected using the Health-Related Lifestyle Questionnaire by Walker and Hill-Perkins (1997) and the Treatment Adherence Scale by Seyed Fatemi et al. (2018). The results from repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) using SPSS version 27 revealed that cognitive-behavioral therapy did not have a significant effect on lifestyle and treatment adherence (p > 0.05). These findings highlight the importance of using compassion-based approaches to improve the psychological health of cardiac patients.
