چکیده
substance abuse causes physical, psychological, and social harm to the user and others. The temptation to use and the extent to which a person can tolerate negative psychological or physical states can cause addiction to return. the purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) treatment on the temptations of consumption and distress tolerance in people with substance abuse. The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test with a control group. The statistical population included all drug abusers who were referred to the addiction treatment centers in Ardabil city in 1401. Among these people, 40 people were selected using available sampling and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups (20 people in each group). Data were collected using a Craving Beliefs Questionnaire (CBQ) and Distress Tolerance Scale (DTS). The experimental group received the tDCS treatment in the form of ten fifteen-minute sessions, but no intervention was used for the control group. The data were analyzed using the statistical test of covariance analysis at a significance level of 0.05 and using SPSS-24 software. The results showed that after removing the effect of the pre-test, there is a significant difference in the dependent variables between the experimental group and the control group in the post-test(P<0.05).

The results of this research emphasize the tDCS treatment can become a valuable tool to reduce the distress caused by the temptations of substance abuse and, as a result, increase the distress tolerance of people with substance abuse.
